Questions often arise regarding the permissibility of including emotional or punitive conditions in a will after death, particularly in cases of strained family relationships and parental distress caused by disobedience.

In this regard, a senior official at Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta clarified that wills motivated by anger or the desire for revenge are not recommended in Islamic teachings and are considered disliked, as they deviate from the intended purpose of a will.

He explained that the purpose of a will in Islam is to leave behind a righteous legacy through charity and acts of goodness, rather than using it as a means of punishment or settling family disputes.

He further emphasized the virtue of forgiveness in cases of mistreatment, referencing the Prophetic guidance that encourages maintaining ties even with those who sever them, rather than responding to harm with harm.

In a related note, he highlighted the virtues of Surah Al-Mulk, describing it as a noble chapter of the Qur’an that is said to protect its reciter from the punishment of the grave when regularly recited. He noted that it consists of thirty verses and has no fixed time for recitation, though mindfulness and reflection are essential.

He also mentioned other recommended recitations such as Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays and the concluding verses of Al-Baqarah and Aal-Imran before sleep, which carry great spiritual benefit and strengthen faith.
