Islam encourages Muslims to remember Allah frequently at all times. Allah Almighty says: ﴿And glorify Him morning and evening﴾ [Al-Ahzab: 42]

The Importance and Virtue of Evening Adhkar

Evening adhkar are among the acts of worship that combine remembrance, supplication, and seeking refuge in Allah. Maintaining regular remembrance of Allah is also a way to strengthen faith and keep the heart connected to its Creator.

Evening Adhkar from the Quran

Ayat Al-Kursi

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan: ﴿Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 255]

The Last Two Verses of Surat Al-Baqarah

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan: ﴿The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them have believed in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. We make no distinction between any of His messengers. And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the final destination."﴾ ﴿Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. It will have [the consequence of] what good it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what evil it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with that which we have no ability to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.﴾ [Al-Baqarah: 285-286]

Surat Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas

Surat Al-Ikhlas: ﴿Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent."﴾ (Three times) Surat Al-Falaq: ﴿Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, From the evil of that which He created, And from the evil of darkness when it settles, And from the evil of the blowers in knots, And from the evil of an envier when he envies."﴾ (Three times) Surat An-Nas: ﴿Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The Sovereign of mankind, The God of mankind, From the evil of the retreating whisperer, Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind, From among the jinn and mankind."﴾ (Three times)

Authentic Evening Supplications

To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is capable of all things. My Lord, I ask You for the goodness of this night and the goodness after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil after it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness, the weakness of old age, punishment in the Fire, and punishment in the grave. O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I remain faithful to my covenant and promise to You as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have committed. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and I acknowledge my sins, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You. I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad ﷺ as my Prophet. (Three times) O Allah, I have entered the evening calling You as my witness, and the bearers of Your Throne, Your angels, and all Your creation, that You are Allah. There is no deity except You alone without partner, and that Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger. (Four times) O Allah, whatever blessing I have received this evening, or any of Your creation has received, is from You alone. You have no partner. To You belongs all praise and thanks. Allah is sufficient for me. There is no deity except Him. Upon Him I rely, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne. (Seven times) In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. (Three times)

Evening Supplications for Protection and Wellbeing

O Allah, through You we enter the evening, through You we enter the morning, through You we live, and through You we die, and to You is the final return. O Allah, grant me health in my body, health in my hearing, and health in my sight. There is no deity except You. (Three times) O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no deity except You. (Three times) O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and wellbeing in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, protect my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. I seek refuge in Your greatness from being harmed unexpectedly from beneath me. O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help. Correct all my affairs and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye. (Three times)

Remembrance and Seeking Forgiveness

Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him, as many as the number of His creation, as much as pleases Him, as heavy as His Throne, and as much as the ink of His words. (Three times) O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad. (10 times) I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Most Great, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I repent to Him.
