Ministry of Awqaf Opens 25 New Mosques as Part of Its Nationwide Mosque Development Plan

The Ministry of Awqaf continues its ongoing efforts to develop and maintain mosques across Egypt, announcing the inauguration of 25 mosques on Friday, July 17, 2026, as part of its strategy to enhance houses of worship and provide a suitable spiritual environment for worshippers.

The newly inaugurated mosques include one newly constructed mosque, 15 rebuilt and renovated mosques, and nine mosques that have undergone maintenance and development across several Egyptian governorates.

Total Number of Mosques Opened Since July 2026

The Ministry of Awqaf announced that the total number of mosques inaugurated since the beginning of July 2026 has reached:

• 55 mosques.
• Including 33 newly built or reconstructed and renovated mosques.
• And 22 mosques that underwent maintenance and development.

The ministry also confirmed that since July 2014, a total of:

14,734 mosques have been reconstructed, renovated, maintained, and furnished, at a total cost of approximately EGP 28.297 billion.

Assiut Governorate

Several mosques were rebuilt and renovated, including:

• Al-Khatib Mosque, Gezirat Al-Maabda Village – Manfalut Center.
• Al-Taqwa Mosque, Nag' Suwaylim Village – Dayrout Center.
• Al Shamardan Mosque, Um Al-Qusour Village – Manfalut Center.

Dakahlia Governorate

The projects included:

• Reconstruction and renovation of Al-Noor Mosque in the city of Gamasa, next to the Social Housing Area Electricity Substation.
• Reconstruction and renovation of Al-Sharm Al-Sharqi Mosque in New Alexandria Area – El Gamalia Center.
• Maintenance and development of the Grand Mosque in Manshaat Al-Badawi Village – Talkha Center.

Fayoum Governorate

The following mosques were rebuilt and renovated:

• Al-Manawi Mosque, Al-Manawiya Hamlet – Senuris Center.
• Abdel Hamid Menshawi Mosque, Abu Jandir Village – Itsa Center.

Minya Governorate

Projects included:

• Reconstruction and renovation of Al Samhan Family Mosque in Nazlet Samhan, Beni Omran Village – Deir Mawas Center.
• Reconstruction and renovation of Al-Hamd Mosque in Mallawi City.

Beheira Governorate

The following mosques were rebuilt and renovated:

• Al-Tawbah Mosque, Santis Village – Damanhur Center.
• Islah Al-Naggarin Mosque, Al-Khaliliya Village – Delengat Center.

Kafr El Sheikh Governorate

Reconstruction and renovation of:

• Bedeir Nassar Mosque, Abu Al-Gadayel Village – Qallin Center.

Ismailia Governorate

Reconstruction and renovation of:

• Al-Rahman Mosque, Ezbet Al-Koua, Al-Wadi Al-Akhdar Village – El Qassasin Center.

Sharqia Governorate

Reconstruction and renovation of:

• Al-Gharqada Mosque – Al-Husseiniya Center.

Qalyubia Governorate

Projects included:

• Reconstruction and renovation of Al-Fath Mosque, Al-Deir Village – Toukh Center.
• Maintenance and development of Ali Al-Ghoul Mosque, Ezbet Al-Gendy, Al-Ghazawiya Village – Toukh Center.

Qena Governorate

Projects included:

• Construction of Engineer Mohamed Mahmoud Hassan Mosque – Qus City and Center.
• Maintenance and development of Al-Rahman Mosque, Nag' Al-Kadadba, Al-Makhzan Village – Qus Center.
• Maintenance and development of Fakhr El-Din Mosque, Al-Asirat Village – Farshut Center.

Sohag Governorate

Maintenance and development of:

• Al-Tawbah Mosque – Nag' Khair Allah – Al-Majabira Village – Girga Center.
• Al-Iman Mosque – Nag' Saad Al-Saud – Beit Dawood Village – Girga Center.

Luxor Governorate

Maintenance and development of:

• Al-Najma Mosque, Al-Adaysat Village – Al-Tod Center.

Aswan Governorate

Maintenance and development of:

• Sheikh Jibril Mosque, Nag' Al-Fuqara, affiliated with Edfu Qibli Administration – Edfu Center.

Red Sea Governorate

Maintenance and development of:

• Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque – Ras Gharib City.

Ministry of Awqaf's Efforts to Develop Mosques
