Complete Evening Supplications – Nourishment for the Soul and Peace for the Heart
As evening draws near and the shadows of night descend, hearts turn gently toward remembrance, and souls find shelter in the serenity of prayer. Thus begins the believer’s journey toward calmness, wrapped in the remembrance of Allah.
Ayat al-Kursi – The Crown of Supplications:
Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
(Al-Baqarah: 255)
The Last Three Surahs:
Say: He is Allah, the One.
Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Daybreak.
Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind.
(Recite three times.)
Evening Invocation:
We have entered the evening, and the whole kingdom belongs to Allah. All praise is due to Allah. There is no deity but Allah, alone without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is over all things competent.
O Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what follows it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it.
O Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the burden of old age. O Lord, I seek refuge in You from the torment of the Fire and the torment of the grave.
The Master of Seeking Forgiveness:
O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no deity but You. You created me, and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.
Gratitude of the Evening:
O Allah, whatever blessing I or any of Your creation have this evening, it is from You alone, without partner. To You belongs all praise and thanks.
Supplication for Well-being and Cover:
O Allah, I have entered this evening in Your blessing, well-being, and protection. Complete Your blessing, well-being, and protection upon me in this world and the Hereafter.
Relief from Anxiety and Burden:
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and sorrow. I seek refuge in You from weakness and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the oppression of men.
Prayer for Knowledge and Provision:
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.
Glorification and Forgiveness:
Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him — one hundred times. Whoever says it will have his sins forgiven, even if they were as abundant as the foam of the sea.
The Word of Monotheism:
There is no deity but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the kingdom and His is the praise, and He is over all things competent.
(Recite one hundred times in the evening.)
Sufficient is Allah for Me:
Allah is sufficient for me; there is no deity but Him. In Him I place my trust, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
(Recite seven times.)
Sending Blessings upon the Prophet:
O Allah, send Your peace, blessings, and grace upon our Prophet Muhammad.
(Recite ten times or more.)
Remembrance of Life and Return:
O Allah, by You we have reached the evening, and by You we reach the morning; by You we live, and by You we die, and to You is our return.
Declaration of Faith:
We have entered the evening upon the natural faith of Islam, upon the word of sincerity, upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and upon the way of our father Abraham, inclining toward truth, a Muslim, and he was not among those who associate partners with Allah.
Conclusion:
O Allah, make our evening one of safety and faith, fill our hearts with peace, grant serenity to our souls, bless us with contentment for what You have decreed, and let happiness extend with the first light of every new dawn. 🌙
