How to Build a Close-Knit Family? 7 Daily Habits You Can’t Do Without
Al-Azhar Global Center for Fatwa highlights 7 key behaviors to strengthen family ties, from compassion and kindness to positive encouragement, fostering a stable family environment.
On International Family Day, the Al-Azhar Global Center for Fatwa outlined seven essential behaviors that enhance family cohesion, emphasizing that a strong family forms the backbone of a strong society.
7 Key Behaviors to Strengthen Family Bonds:
1. Compassion and Mercy
Compassion softens hearts, mercy heals missteps, forming the foundation of a resilient family, as Allah says:
{And He placed between you affection and mercy} [Ar-Rum: 21]
2. Fulfilling Rights
Observing duties among family members fosters justice, satisfaction, and a stable marital relationship.
3. Constructive Family Dialogue
Kind words and calm discussion resolve conflicts and strengthen bonds: {…and speak kindly to people} [Al-Baqarah: 83]
4. Positive Participation
Sharing responsibilities enhances belonging and connection, making every family member feel valued.
5. Good Assumptions
Trusting intentions strengthens relationships and reduces suspicion: {…avoid much suspicion, indeed some suspicion is sin} [Al-Hujurat: 12]
6. Overlooking Minor Faults
Forgiving small mistakes preserves harmony and prevents conflicts from escalating, as Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The strong is not the one who overpowers, but the one who controls himself when angry” [Agreed upon]
7. Positive Encouragement
Sincere praise and encouragement build confidence and bring out the best in family members, as Prophet ﷺ said:
“A kind word is charity” [Agreed upon]
Applying these behaviors fosters a stable family environment, ensures the upbringing of balanced children, and strengthens the foundation of society.
