Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta emphasized that sponsoring orphans is among the most virtuous and beloved acts in Islam, reflecting compassion and social solidarity. A home that cares for an orphan is considered among the most blessed.

The institution clarified that this responsibility goes beyond financial support, extending to emotional, psychological, and educational care to ensure the child grows up in a safe and nurturing environment.

Dar Al-Ifta stressed that clear regulations must be in place for orphan sponsorship, including allowing external monitoring and periodic follow-ups. This ensures that the child is treated well and protected from any form of abuse or exploitation.

It further explained that the primary goal of sponsorship is to support and uplift the orphan, not to exploit them in any way that contradicts religious or legal principles. Any violation of this purpose undermines the essence of the system.

The statement also highlighted that kindness and proper care for orphans are core Islamic values, while mistreatment or neglect is strongly condemned.

These guidelines aim to strengthen child protection measures and ensure that orphan care fulfills its humanitarian and ethical objectives, providing children with dignity and a better future.
