12 Injuries and 460 Days Out: The Mystery of Achraf Dari’s Endless Struggles with Injuries at Al Ahly
Since joining Al Ahly in the summer of 2024, Moroccan defender Achraf Dari has endured a series of recurring injuries that kept him sidelined for long stretches, turning his spell with the Red Giants into a puzzling saga for fans and the technical staff alike.
Luck seems to have deserted Moroccan star Achraf Dari since he joined Al Ahly from Stade Brest in the summer of 2024. The defender has suffered repeated muscle injuries that have prevented him from showing his true potential with the Cairo giants. 😔
Since his arrival, Dari has spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch. Each time he recovers, a new injury strikes, frustrating both the player and Al Ahly supporters who are still waiting to see him in top form.
His troubles began shortly after signing for Al Ahly, when he suffered an ankle sprain during Morocco’s training camp, sidelining him for almost three months. Later, he endured a series of muscle injuries from hamstring and adductor strains to knee issues. The latest setback came during the recent match against Pyramids, when he suffered another adductor strain in training and continues to follow a rehabilitation program away from the team.
Dari’s injury woes date back to his early career. In 2019, while playing for Wydad Casablanca, he sustained a cruciate ligament tear, the most serious injury of his career, keeping him out for 254 days. He also suffered several recurring knee and hamstring problems during his time with Wydad and later with Charleroi in Belgium during the 2023–2024 season before the pattern continued at Al Ahly.
Since joining the Egyptian champions, Dari has endured 12 separate injuries, missing a total of 460 days and over 51 official matches an alarming figure for a player of his age and potential.
Speaking about Dari’s situation, Abdel Rahman Eissa, Al Ahly’s former fitness coach, said: “The issue is linked to the player’s physical structure, especially around the pelvis area. It’s also related to training and rehabilitation methods. Dari is extremely passionate, and that intensity sometimes puts him at greater risk of injury.” 💬
As Al Ahly continues its preparations for upcoming fixtures, the case of Achraf Dari remains one of the most perplexing within the squad. Fans are now hoping to finally see the Moroccan defender back at full fitness after such a long and frustrating
absence. 🔴⚽
