Sports broadcaster Ahmed Shobier appeared on "ON Sport FM" radio program to reveal the latest updates on Zamalek’s transfer activities ahead of the new season, just days before the start of the Egyptian Premier League. Shobier confirmed that the club’s management is making great efforts to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window, which closes on August 6, aiming to sign players who can elevate the team’s level and compete for all titles.
New foreign signing to boost right wing, but with conditions
Shobier explained that Zamalek is preparing to complete a very strong signing for the right winger position in the coming days. The expected player will be foreign and is anticipated to be a valuable addition. However, the official announcement will only come after resolving the situation of one current foreign player, specifically Tunisian Ahmed El Gafali, who is expected to be officially released to free up a spot for the newcomer. This step reflects the club’s commitment to squad registration rules and the foreign player limit.
Firm denial of negotiations with Ivan Leguizamón
Separately, Shobier strongly denied rumors linking Zamalek to the Argentine player Ivan Leguizamón, who currently plays in Paraguay’s league. He clarified that the club has had no official contact with the player or his agent, and that Leguizamón is not part of the current transfer plans, dismissing any negotiation claims.
Zamalek management focuses on team stability and key signings
Shobier added that the club’s officials are well aware of the importance of completing quality signings that support the team, while carefully managing the foreign player roster according to league regulations. At the same time, the club remains cautious in negotiations, aiming to finalize effective deals that ensure strong performance continuity amid the team’s high ambitions in the league, cup competitions, and continental tournaments
