📢 Family Emergency Delays Yasser Idris’ Trip to Italy
Engineer Yasser Idris, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, decided to postpone his trip to Italy, which had been scheduled for early Monday morning, after his mother suffered a sudden health crisis that required her admission to intensive care.
The Egyptian Olympic Committee president had been scheduled to travel to the Italian city of Taranto to follow the Egyptian delegation’s participation in the 2026 Mediterranean Games, which will be held from August 21 to September 3, and to support the members of the Egyptian delegation during their participation in various competitions. 🇪🇬🏆
❤️ Emergency Circumstances Change His Travel Date
The decision to postpone the trip came amid the emergency health circumstances affecting Yasser Idris’ mother, making it necessary for him to remain with his family during this period before resuming his schedule related to following the participation of Egyptian teams and athletes in the Games.
The Egyptian Olympic Committee president is expected to determine his new travel date to Italy according to developments in his mother’s health condition, especially as the Egyptian delegation prepares to compete strongly across a large number of sports.
🏆 Egyptian Delegation Begins Traveling to Taranto
While Yasser Idris has had to postpone his trip, members of the Egyptian delegation will begin traveling to Italy from August 18, in preparation for the start of the official competitions.
The first travel groups include several important delegations, most notably the women’s volleyball team, consisting of 14 members, and the men’s volleyball team, consisting of 15 members, in addition to the canoe and kayak delegation, which consists of two members.
Travel will continue on August 19, with the Greco-Roman wrestling delegation of 11 members, boxing with 9 members, swimming with 3 members, and fencing with 3 members, in addition to shooting and gymnastics delegations according to the schedules set for each competition. ✈️🇪🇬
🤾 Handball Among the Largest Delegations
Travel on August 20 will include the handball delegation, consisting of 20 members, making it the largest individual delegation listed in the travel schedule during this stage.

The Shotgun shooting delegation, consisting of three members, will also travel on August 20, while the P/R shooting delegation, consisting of four members, will depart on August 21.
🤼♀️ New Delegations Continue Arriving in Italy

The list of participating sports includes table tennis and badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, fin swimming, sailing, judo, rowing, and 3x3 basketball, alongside other competitions in which Egypt is aiming to achieve positive results. 🥇🔥
🏃 New Competitions During the Final Days
The movement of Egyptian delegations does not end with the beginning of the Games, as travel continues until the final days of August due to differences in the starting dates of competitions from one sport to another.
The athletics and artistic gymnastics delegations, each consisting of 11 members, will travel alongside the three-member equestrian delegation during August 26 and 27.
These movements are part of an organizational plan designed to ensure that each delegation arrives in Italy at the appropriate time for its competitions, rather than having all delegations remain there for an extended period before their events begin.
🏋️♂️ Weightlifting and Karate Complete the Travel Schedule
Among the delegations traveling later is the weightlifting delegation, consisting of 13 members, which will travel to Italy on August 28. The competition will take place from August 31 to September 2, with the delegation returning on September 3.
