The city of Alexandria is preparing to host one of Africa’s biggest sporting events, the African Wrestling Championship 2026 🤼‍♂️🇪🇬, showcasing Egypt’s strong organizational capabilities on the continental stage.

The tournament will run from April 25 to May 5, 2026, featuring Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women’s wrestling competitions across U17, U20, and senior categories, in addition to beach wrestling events 🏖️🔥.

So far, 27 African nations have confirmed participation, including Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Cameroon, and Kenya, ensuring a highly competitive championship 🌍🤼‍♀️.

A total of around 500 athletes and officials are expected to take part, making it one of the largest editions in the history of the competition 🏆🔥.

Egypt will field a strong delegation of 106 athletes across all age categories, aiming for strong performances on home soil 🇪🇬💪.

The event will feature international-standard mats provided by the Egyptian Wrestling Federation, with teams accommodated at Radisson Blu Hotel and matches held at Borg El Arab Indoor Hall 🏟️.

These preparations highlight that the Alexandria edition of the African Wrestling Championship will be a landmark event both technically and organizationally, reinforcing Egypt’s leadership in hosting major continental tournaments 🌟🤼‍♂️.
