Egypt remains in pursuit of an equalizing goal after 75 minutes in their opening Arab Cup group-stage match against Kuwait. The Pharaohs are still trailing after conceding in the 64th minute, when Fahad Al-Hajri headed in a well-delivered corner to give Kuwait the lead despite long spells of Egyptian possession.

Egypt had a golden chance to strike first before halftime, as the referee awarded a penalty. Amr El-Solia stepped up to take it, yet his effort went wide, leaving the score level until Kuwait’s decisive moment early in the second half.

Competing in Group C alongside Kuwait, the UAE, and Jordan, Egypt is scheduled to face the UAE on December 6 before concluding the group stage against Jordan on December 9 at Al-Bayt Stadium.

The match began with Mohamed Bassam in goal, supported by Akram Tawfik, Ragab Nabil, Yassin Marei, and Yehia Zakaria in defense. The midfield trio featured Mohamed Elneny, Amr El-Solia, and Ghanam Mohamed, while Mostafa Saad “Messi,” Islam Issa, and Mohamed Sherif led the attacking line.

Substitutes included Ali Lotfi, Mohamed Awwad, Ahmed Hani, Karim Fouad, Karim El-Iraqi, Mahmoud Hamdy “El-Wensh,” Hadi Reyad, Mohamed Magdy “Afsha,” Mido Gaber, Mohamed Massad, Hossam Hassan, and Marwan Hamdi.

Historically, Egypt and Kuwait have met twice before in the Arab Cup. Egypt won the 1992 meeting 1–0, thanks to Ayman Mansour, while Kuwait claimed a 4–1 victory in 1998 with standout performances from Jassem Al-Houwaidi and his teammates.
