Emam Ashour, the star midfielder of Al Ahly’s first football team, has left the team’s delegation currently based in New Jersey, USA, and returned to Cairo. This comes after receiving full medical reassurance following the surgery he recently underwent.
Ashour made a public appearance in the past hours alongside his wife, reflecting a high morale before boarding the plane back to Egypt. He is set to begin the first phase of his treatment and rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club’s medical staff, in preparation for a gradual return to action once fully recovered.
Ashour had sustained a serious injury during Al Ahly’s match against Inter Miami in the opening round of the FIFA Club World Cup. Medical examinations revealed a fracture in the collarbone, which required him to undergo urgent surgery at a specialized hospital in the United States.
Despite the severity of the injury, the player has shown great spirit and optimism about returning soon. The club’s technical and medical teams continue to monitor his condition daily to ensure the rehabilitation program proceeds as planned.
On the competition front, Al Ahly continues intensive preparations for a decisive clash against FC Porto of Portugal in the third round of Group A in the Club World Cup. The match is scheduled for early Tuesday morning at 4:00 AM Cairo time, at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
