Ahmed Hamdy, midfielder for Zamalek’s first football team, underwent an official investigation on Wednesday at the club’s headquarters under the supervision of the legal department. This came after recent violations on his personal social media accounts, which the club’s management deemed a breach of player conduct and regulations.

According to a statement from Zamalek’s media center, the full investigation report will be presented to the club’s board of directors, led by Captain Hussein Labib, to discuss the incident and determine the appropriate disciplinary action based on legal recommendations.
Ahmed Hamdy had posted controversial messages on Instagram regarding his status within the team — actions the club viewed as inappropriate and inconsistent with Zamalek’s values of discipline and professionalism.

The board is now leaning towards imposing a substantial financial penalty on the player — not only for using social media to express internal conflicts but also for his continued refusal to participate in matches. Hamdy cited a lack of final clearance from his German physician, despite the club’s medical staff, led by Dr. Mohamed Osama, confirming his full readiness weeks ago.

The club management believes the player's behavior is unjustified and disruptive to the team’s stability. Zamalek is now focused on enforcing strict discipline within the squad, aiming to send a clear message that all players must adhere to club rules and remain fully committed to their duties on the pitch, especially during this critical phase of the season.
