Ahmed Salem, the official spokesperson for Zamalek Club, addressed the recent controversy surrounding the club’s midfielder Ahmed Hamdy and responded to rumors that the club refused to cover his medical treatment expenses abroad.

Accountability of Responsible Parties
Salem clarified that “the only principle is to tell the truth, and any violation by any individual within the system will be subject to legal and objective investigation,” firmly denying any prior punishment imposed by captain Wael El-Qabbani on Hamdy and confirming that all circulating rumors are far from the truth.

Investigation Procedures
The spokesperson pointed out that “the natural sequence for any mistake is to refer it for investigation,” explaining that the administration is awaiting the player’s return from the UAE to undergo the official procedures. Afterward, the appropriate decision will be made, whether imposing penalties or other measures, to maintain the team’s discipline.

Full Care for the Player
Responding to claims that the club abandoned Hamdy, Salem said: “We have not abandoned him since his injury; rather, he has remained under full medical care with our constant supervision.” He clarified that Hamdy’s trip to the UAE was to ensure his health and prevent the injury’s recurrence—all under the umbrella of support from the White Castle (Zamalek).

Clarifying the Financial Error
The spokesperson admitted that an “unintentional error” occurred while processing one of the checks related to the player’s treatment but emphasized that this mistake does not justify neglecting his rights or withholding payments. He considered the incident minor and said it would not affect the club’s commitment to its members.

Expressing Confidence in Hamdy
Salem concluded by reassuring fans that “Ahmed Hamdy is 100% healthy, and his trip was only for medical reassurance.” He stressed that Zamalek’s administration has fulfilled its duties fully and is keen on supporting its players professionally and personally while maintaining the sports system’s discipline.
