Al-Rayyan Close to Signing Wissam Abu Ali... Al-Ahly Considers $3 Million Offer
Qatar's Al-Rayyan is close to signing Wissam Abu Ali for $3 million, but Al-Ahly insists on $10 million.
Press sources have revealed new and intriguing developments regarding Al-Rayyan SC’s negotiations to sign Wissam Abu Ali, the striker of Al-Ahly’s first football team, during the current summer transfer window.
According to Qatar’s Al-Sharq newspaper, the Palestinian striker is on the verge of moving to the Qatar Stars League, with an agreement between Al-Rayyan and Al-Ahly expected to be finalized soon. The report states that Al-Rayyan’s management has shown a strong desire to acquire Abu Ali, ramping up negotiations in recent days to conclude the deal before their pre-season training camp begins.
The Qatari club is expected to submit an official offer to buy out the remainder of the player’s contract, with an initial fee of around $3 million. However, this offer remains below Al-Ahly’s financial expectations.
Al-Rayyan is also looking to fill the gap left by Paraguayan striker Adam Bareiro, who departed at the end of last season. The club sees Wissam Abu Ali as an ideal replacement, thanks to his physical strength, goal-scoring instinct, and intelligent movement inside the penalty area.
On the other hand, sources within Al-Ahly confirmed that the club has received direct contact from a representative of Al-Rayyan, expressing interest in signing the player. However, Al-Ahly's management is still holding on to the player, especially given the team’s need for his contributions in the upcoming season.
The source also emphasized that Abu Ali has received several offers from Gulf and European clubs recently, following his strong performances with Al-Ahly. Nevertheless, the club has set clear conditions for any negotiation—most notably, receiving an offer of no less than $10 million, reflecting the player’s value and importance to the team.
Meanwhile, Wissam Abu Ali seems increasingly likely to leave, after rejecting Al-Ahly’s proposal to improve his salary. The player is eager to embark on a new professional journey outside the Egyptian Premier League, aiming to further his career and take advantage of international interest—whether from major Gulf clubs or European teams that have been monitoring him for some time.
The deal may develop quickly in the coming days, given Al-Rayyan’s push to close the file soon and the player's clear desire to embrace a new challenge. The ball now lies in Al-Ahly’s court, as the club must make its final decision based on the financial offer and technical vision for the new season.
