All-Egypt Final Set in Hong Kong Squash Open as Youssef Ibrahim Faces Mostafa Asal

Egypt secured the men’s title at the Hong Kong Squash Open after Youssef Ibrahim and Mostafa Asal advanced to the final, alongside strong performances from Egyptian stars in both divisions.

Egypt’s dominance in world squash continued to shine as Youssef Ibrahim and Mostafa Asal booked their spots in the final of the Hong Kong Squash Open, one of the sport’s top-tier events held from December 1 to 7 with prize money of $224,000 for both men and women.

Youssef Ibrahim delivered a brilliant comeback performance in the semifinals, defeating New Zealand’s Paul Coll 3-1 after an intense showdown. The match unfolded with scores of 3-11, 13-11, 11-8, and 11-8, showcasing Ibrahim’s determination and tactical composure.

Mostafa Asal, on the other hand, dominated his semifinal match against England’s Jonah Bryant, securing a commanding 3-0 victory with game scores of 11-3, 11-5, and 11-1, affirming his readiness for the final clash.

In the women’s competition, Egyptian talent also stood tall as Nour El Sherbini edged past Hania El Hammamy in a thrilling five-game battle, finishing 3-2 with game scores of 7-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, and 11-3.

A total of 20 Egyptian athletes participated in the tournament:
Men (9 players): Mostafa Asal, Mazen Hesham, Mohamed Zakaria, Fares Dessouky, Karim Abdel Gawad, Mohamed ElSherbini, Youssef Ibrahim, Mohamed Abouelghar, and Ali Abou Eleinen.
Women (11 players): Hania El Hammamy, Amina Orfi, Zeina Mickawy, Sana Ibrahim, Fayrouz Abouelkheir, Mariam Metwally, Nour El Sherbini, Hania Ramadan, Kenzy Ayman, Hana Moataz, and Malak Khafagy.

With an all-Egypt final now confirmed, excitement builds as two world-class champions prepare for a showdown that reflects Egypt’s continued supremacy in the sport.
