Egyptian squash star Amina Orfi, the current world No.1, has revealed details of her journey to the top of the rankings and discussed the moments surrounding her Qatar Classic title.
Speaking on the “Modern Sports” program hosted by journalist Hany Hethout on modern mti, Orfi said reaching the top of the world rankings had been one of her biggest dreams since she first started playing squash.
She described becoming world No.1 as an important milestone in her career, particularly after winning the Qatar Classic against fellow Egyptian Hania El Hammamy in a 3-2 final.

Amina Orfi also discussed her World Championship final against fellow Egyptian Nour El Sherbiny, explaining that she deliberately avoided focusing on her opponent’s reputation or achievements.
The Egyptian player said she did not enter the match thinking about facing an eight-time world champion, but instead concentrated on producing her best performance on court.
Orfi won the final 3-2, achieving a historic milestone by becoming the youngest player to win the World Championship in squash, according to her comments.

Orfi revealed that Nour El Sherbiny congratulated her after the final and encouraged her to enjoy the moment and appreciate the achievement.
She also explained that she has tried throughout her career to learn from the experience of leading Egyptian squash players, including Omneya Abdel Kawy, whose experience she has benefited from during her development.

The Egyptian star confirmed that she has already begun preparations for the upcoming Olympic challenge, with the first step set to come through the African qualifiers scheduled for August.
