Former Zamalek player Amir Azmy criticized attempts to attribute Al Ahly’s failure to win titles last season to refereeing decisions.
Speaking on the “El Clasico” program with presenter Siham Saleh on ON E, Azmy argued that, in his view, assessing the team’s results requires looking at its overall performances and the circumstances throughout the season.

Azmy said it is not acceptable, from his perspective, to reduce the loss of an entire title to a single refereeing mistake, particularly given Al Ahly’s financial resources and the level of investment in the football team.
He explained that a full season involves numerous matches and different technical circumstances, meaning that results should not be judged solely on the basis of one incident.

The former Zamalek player also pointed to Al Ahly’s squad quality and the club’s significant resources, arguing that such advantages should mean the team takes greater responsibility for its results.
He added that blaming refereeing errors does not, in his assessment, provide a complete explanation for why titles were lost.

Meanwhile, the international break begins on September 21 and continues until October 6, giving Al Ahly’s coaching staff additional time to work on technical and physical aspects before domestic competition resumes.
