Amr El-Dardir Reveals Alyou Dieng’s Future with Al Ahly
Sports journalist Amr El-Dardir confirms that Alyou Dieng will remain with Al Ahly until the end of the current season, amid reports of weak tactical awareness and uncertainty over his contract renewal.
🦅 Egyptian sports journalist Amr El-Dardir has revealed the future of Malian midfielder Alyou Dieng with Al Ahly SC, confirming that the player will stay with the team until the end of the current season.
El-Dardir wrote on his official Facebook page: “Alyou Dieng will remain until the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, journalist Mohamed Tarek Oda discussed the details of Dieng’s contract renewal situation with Al Ahly, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, explaining that the club’s management has not yet made a final decision regarding his extension.
⚽ During his appearance on the TV program “El Match” on Sada El Balad Channel, Oda revealed that head coach Marcel Koller and his assistant José Ribeiro observed that Dieng’s tactical awareness is “very weak.”
He added: “When Dieng has the ball, he tends to push forward to support the attack, but without the ball, he fails to position himself properly or apply the right pressing, leaving spaces for opponents.”
Oda noted that this issue was one of the main reasons Koller previously requested Dieng’s departure, especially after the player made several positioning and passing errors in key atmches.
🔥 He further explained that Ribeiro agreed with Koller’s assessment, which led to Dieng being dropped from the starting lineup. The coaching staff prioritized Marwan Attia as the first choice, followed by Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane and Ahmed Nabil Kouka, a decision that remained even after Dieng’s strong performance against Porto in the FIFA Club World Cup.
👏 Despite the ongoing debate about his tactical discipline, Dieng remains one of the top midfielders in Egyptian football, known for his physical strength, defensive awareness, and ability to recover possession key qualities that continue to make him an important figure in Al Ahly’s squad.
