Amr El Solia: My Journey with Al Ahly Is Unforgettable… Now My Goal Is a Strong Comeback with the National Team
Amr El Solia sees his move to Ceramica as an important new step and affirms his ambition to return to Egypt's national team.
Former Al Ahly midfielder Amr El Solia has officially joined Ceramica Cleopatra, describing the move as a pivotal step in his football career. Speaking with complete conviction, El Solia emphasized that he was drawn by the club’s stability and clear ambitions for the coming seasons.
In a phone interview on the “Mercato” show on ON Sport FM radio, El Solia expressed his satisfaction with the move, stating:
"Joining Ceramica is a very important step in my journey. The club has a promising project and a professional system that’s focused on the future. I hope to be a valuable addition to the team and help achieve the goals set by the management and coaching staff."
Having worn Al Ahly’s jersey for over nine years, El Solia reflected fondly on his time with the Red Devils. He said he experienced unforgettable moments and achieved everything a player could dream of — both individually and collectively. Yet, he considers the love of Al Ahly’s fans to be the greatest and most cherished reward:
"Trophies and stats matter, but the genuine love from the fans is what truly lasts. I’m proud of every single day I spent at Al Ahly."
Regarding the transfer details, El Solia revealed that the process was smooth and quick, largely thanks to the efforts of his agent Ahmed Yehia, as well as the warm welcome from Ceramica Cleopatra’s management and coaching team, led by Coach Ali Maher, who played a major role in finalizing the move.
"Saad Samir also played an important role," El Solia added. "He called me, explained the team atmosphere, and really encouraged me to take the step."
Looking ahead, El Solia stated that his top goal now is to earn his way back into Egypt’s national team. He believes that strong performances with Ceramica will be the key to achieving that dream — especially since Coach Ali Maher's playing style complements his own and allows him freedom and creativity on the pitch.
He also predicted that the upcoming league season will be one of the most competitive in years, expecting fierce rivalry between Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids FC, while also tipping Ceramica to make a strong impact after the club’s summer reinforcements.
Recalling his most memorable career moments, El Solia described the 2020 CAF Champions League final against Zamalek as the toughest and most significant match of his life. He called it an unforgettable milestone for any player. He also congratulated Pyramids FC for winning the latest edition of the tournament, saying that any Egyptian club’s triumph in Africa is a source of national pride.
In closing, El Solia sent a heartfelt message to Al Ahly’s fans:
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support and encouragement throughout nine years. Al Ahly fans are incredible. Their love still reaches me wherever I go — and that’s something that will never change."
