In his first major assignment with the Brazilian national team, Carlo Ancelotti discussed final preparations for the friendly against Senegal in London, ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The Italian, the first European to coach "Seleção," emphasized that his main goal is to get the team fully prepared: "We must keep improving. Any mistake at the World Cup could send us home."

Regarding former Real Madrid stars Vinícius Jr. and Rodrygo, he said: "They can play together perfectly, are in excellent physical condition, and will provide a lot for the team." He added: "I speak with players personally to understand their feelings and mindset, and I won’t force anyone to play out of position."

Reflecting on his departure from Real Madrid last summer after winning 15 titles, including three Champions Leagues, Ancelotti said: "It was a difficult but calculated decision. The farewell day with the fans was deeply emotional. Coaching Brazil is a beautiful dream and an exceptional challenge."

Responding to criticism labeling him a "locker room manager," he stated: "My work is tactical. We developed youth like Vinícius, Rodrygo, Valverde, and Bellingham. Creating a healthy environment is part of my job but not the core of it."

On defensive injuries that affected Madrid’s last season: "We lost almost the entire defense and had to adjust positions for players like Valverde and Camavinga. Replacing Kroos and Modric at once was impossible."

He praised successor Xabi Alonso: "I have complete confidence in him. The team is strong, Mbappé is at his best, and Bellingham is back in form. The future at Real Madrid is very promising."
