⚪ Ayman Younes Discusses Zamalek’s Problems Before the Derby
Former Zamalek star Ayman Younes has discussed the situation at the White Castle ahead of the highly anticipated clash with Al Ahly, saying the club is going through a difficult period on both financial and administrative levels.
Younes believes the money from Juan Bezerra’s transfer should be directed directly toward the football team, particularly to settle outstanding payments owed to players rather than being used for other sports within the club.
Speaking on the “Number One” program presented by Mohamed Shabana on CBC, Younes said: “All of Bezerra’s money should be spent on the football team and the players’ dues. It has nothing to do with indoor teams. Everything should be spent on its own area.”

The former Zamalek player also stressed that the team needs a financial boost before facing Al Ahly, arguing that the issue of delayed payments is putting additional pressure on the club’s management before such an important match.
He said: “Zamalek’s players need a financial boost before the derby. There is pressure on the administration because of the Al Ahly match and the players’ dues before the game.”
In Younes’ view, settling part of the outstanding payments could help improve the atmosphere around the team ahead of the important encounter.

Younes went on to describe the club’s current situation as difficult and called for clear solutions, suggesting that financial problems have complicated several aspects of the club’s operations.
He said: “Zamalek are in a difficult situation and there needs to be a solution. Bezerra forced Zamalek’s hand because there was no money in the club.”
He also strongly criticized the club’s board, saying: “The Zamalek board is exhausting itself, but the result is zero because it is an amateur administration.”

Regarding the future of the football company, Younes said he has no objection to an investor receiving 60% of the company, but believes the club’s administration should retain certain powers over major decisions.
He said: “There is no problem with giving an investor 60% of the football company, but the administration should retain the right to have a say in player sales, signings and some administrative matters.”
From Younes’ perspective, such an arrangement could combine outside investment with continued administrative involvement in important sporting decisions.

Younes also criticized the way people are selected for roles at the club, arguing that success in one field does not necessarily mean that a person is the right fit for a particular position at Zamalek.
He added: “The Zamalek administration is amateur and will make Zamalek like Ismaily. Bringing in someone successful in their own position and saying they are automatically right for Zamalek is wrong and an old amateur approach.”
His remarks reflect his view that clearer criteria are needed when selecting officials for administrative, sporting and investment positions.

Regarding the upcoming Al Ahly-Zamalek clash, Younes said the two clubs are entering the derby in a different situation from the usual picture surrounding the fixture.
He said: “Throughout history, we have not seen Al Ahly and Zamalek this weak before a derby. Usually, one team is ahead of the other.”
Younes added that victory would represent a psychological boost for the winning side, but would not decide the league title by itself. He also pointed to technical problems affecting both teams that still need to be addressed.
The upcoming derby is therefore attracting major attention from supporters of both clubs, with the result expected to carry significant emotional importance while also influencing the atmosphere around the teams in the weeks ahead.
