⚡ Barakat on Al Ahly’s Recent Decline
Mohamed Barakat, former Egyptian football star, stated that Al Ahly’s recent poor results and exit from the CAF Champions League are directly linked to players’ individual performances and the collective effort on the field ⚽🔥.
During his appearance on Ya Masa’ Al Anwar, hosted by Medhat Shalaby on MBC Masr 2, Barakat said: “If a star player doesn’t perform at their best in every match and the team doesn’t exert full effort, the results will reflect that, as we’ve seen recently. Al Ahly started the season strong in the Club World Cup, except for the match against Palmeiras. Later, we noticed some players chasing personal fame, which doesn’t reflect on Zizo or Ben Sherki. Wissam Abu Ali’s departure affected the team, especially as the replacements, whether Gradishar or Kamouich, did not perform at the required level.”

He added: “Al Ahly approaches some matches with complacency, which is unacceptable in football, a sport that rewards only effort and performance. Fans are clearly frustrated, as shown by attendance in league and African matches. The team must give its all on the field; it’s not just about winning but showing genuine effort.”
💡 Evaluating Haitham Hassan
Barakat also commented on Haitham Hassan: “He is a very good player. I have followed his performance in the Spanish league, and he has delivered strong displays. He handles defensive duties alongside his attacking skills. I hope he starts against Saudi Arabia, especially in Mohamed Salah’s absence.”
