FC Barcelona has entered a new dispute with the Spanish Football Federation following the controversy over Lamine Yamal’s exclusion from the national team due to undergoing medical treatment without prior notification, according to the federation’s statement.
The club confirmed in an official statement that the young winger remains under the continuous supervision of Barcelona’s medical staff, in coordination with the Spanish national team’s medical team, emphasizing that the player’s health is the top priority ⚕️⚽.
Barcelona explained that it consulted Belgian expert Ernst Schilders, specialized in this type of injury, who conducted a medical examination of Yamal at the Joan Gamper Sports City on Monday, after Barcelona’s match against Celta Vigo in La Liga.
The club stated that, in coordination with the medical staff and the player himself, the doctor decided to implement radiofrequency therapy to aid full recovery from pelvic pain, requiring rest and careful monitoring.
Barcelona rejected allegations from the Spanish Federation of non-cooperation, affirming that the federation was informed immediately after the medical decision and that all actions were taken responsibly and in full coordination to ensure Yamal’s safe and gradual return to play.
This dispute reflects ongoing tension between Barcelona and the Spanish Federation over managing Yamal’s international participation, given coach Luis de la Fuente’s frequent reliance on him despite his young age and recurring injuries.
