Sports journalist Khaled El-Ghandour, via his official Facebook account, revealed details of a crucial meeting between Al Ahly officials and representatives of Moroccan club RS Berkane regarding the futures of players Achraf Dari and Reda Suleiman. Despite Al Ahly agreeing to loan the duo to the Moroccan side and even covering half of their salaries to facilitate the deal, both players rejected the offer for personal and professional reasons.
El-Ghandour explained that Moroccan defender Achraf Dari is reluctant to return to the Moroccan league at this time, preferring to continue his career abroad or seek a new challenge in another league. Meanwhile, Reda Suleiman insists on staying at Al Ahly, determined to fight for a starting position, and refuses to go out on loan this summer.
Regarding rumors about Reda Suleiman receiving offers from Qatari clubs, El-Ghandour stressed that these reports are inaccurate and no official contact has been made so far. Negotiations are still ongoing with different parties, as the transfer window deadline approaches, putting Al Ahly’s management under pressure to make decisive moves in the coming days.
Rabie Yassin: Al Ahly the Favorite for Titles — But!
In another context, Rabie Yassin, former Al Ahly and Egypt national team star, shared his technical outlook for the 2024/2025 season, affirming that Al Ahly remains the top contender to win all local and continental titles.
Speaking on the radio show “L’3ba Wel Tania” with host Karim Ramzy on Mega FM, Yassin said:
“Al Ahly currently has a strong squad and a bench that matches the quality of the starters, which is rare in Egyptian football.”
He added:
“The club’s strength lies in its technical and administrative stability, having international players in most positions, plus a winning mentality that sets them apart from other rivals.”
However, Yassin acknowledged the team’s need to reinforce its lineup, especially in defense, emphasizing the importance of signing a strong replacement for Ali Maaloul, who could face fatigue or injuries due to the heavy match schedule. He nominated player Mohamed Shokry as a potential candidate to fill Maaloul’s role, praising his impressive performances and highlighting that continued development could make him a key asset for the coaching
