Egypt's amateur skating delegation left Cairo International Airport on Tuesday, heading to Italy to participate in the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, which will run through September 3.

The event features a major international field, with 3,803 athletes from 26 countries taking part across a wide range of sports.

Egypt's Amateur Skating Team

Egypt's amateur skating team includes two athletes competing in marathon events: Farida Ahmed and Maram Abdel Latif.

They are accompanied by Nermin Abu Khadra, who serves as the team's general coach during the Mediterranean Games.

The two Egyptian athletes will look to achieve strong results in the marathon events and represent Egypt at the highest level during the competition.

Egypt Reaches 13 Medals at Taranto 2026

Egypt's delegation has collected 13 medals so far at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, making the country the leading Arab nation in the medal standings.

Egypt's haul consists of four gold medals, four silver medals and five bronze medals.

Egyptian swimmers have delivered strong performances, with Abdelrahman Sameh winning the gold medal in the men's 50-meter butterfly.

The Egyptian delegation is competing in 23 sports at the Mediterranean Games, featuring athletes across individual and team disciplines.

Egypt's participation includes archery, athletics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, canoeing and kayaking, equestrian sports, fencing, aquatic sports, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate and padel.

The delegation is also competing in rowing, sailing, shooting, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, finswimming and amateur skating.

Egypt Ranks Sixth Historically at the Mediterranean Games

Egypt ranks sixth among the countries with the most medals in the history of the Mediterranean Games.

Egyptian athletes have accumulated 620 medals, including 156 gold medals, 209 silver medals and 255 bronze medals.

The figures highlight Egypt's long-standing presence at the Mediterranean Games, with the current delegation aiming to add more medals to the country's historic tally.
