The first session of the third day of the African Beach Volleyball Championship for men and women, held at Abu Heif Beach in Alexandria, featured a number of strong matches amid intense competition between the participating African teams seeking impressive results and higher positions in the tournament standings. 🏐🇪🇬
🏐 Egypt Defeat Kenya
In the men’s competition, Egypt defeated Kenya 2-0 after narrowly winning the first set 24-22.
The Egyptian team then imposed its superiority in the second set, winning it 21-15 to secure an important victory in its tournament campaign.
In another men’s match, Senegal secured an exciting 2-1 victory over Benin after losing the first set 21-19. Senegal fought back to win the second set 28-26 before clinching the decisive third set 15-13.
🇪🇬 Strong Results for Egypt and Mozambique in the Women’s Competition
The women’s competition featured five matches, with Mozambique continuing its strong run by defeating Tunisia 2-0, winning the first set 21-12 before dominating the second set 21-4.
Mauritius also defeated Kenya 2-0, winning 21-11 and 21-19.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s women’s team continued its impressive performances by defeating Ivory Coast 2-0, winning 21-10 and 21-6, before securing another 2-0 victory over South Africa, winning the two sets 21-5 and 21-11. 🇪🇬🔥
In the remaining women’s matches, Morocco defeated Seychelles 2-0, winning 21-11 and 21-13, while Cape Verde overcame Gambia 2-0 after winning the first set 22-20 and the second 21-17.
🏆 Strong Competition in the Championship
The results from the first session of the third day highlight the high level of competition in the tournament, with several teams making strong starts while some matches featured very close scores, particularly in the men’s competition.
The African Beach Volleyball Championship will continue until August 22 at Abu Heif Beach in Alexandria, under the patronage of Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria.
Aida Ismail, a member of the African Volleyball Confederation’s Board of Directors, chairs the tournament’s organizing committee, while Bouchra Hajij, President of the African Volleyball Confederation, is following the competition from the courts to monitor the matches and organization.
🥇 Tournament Qualifies for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
The championship carries major importance as a qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with the winners of the men’s and women’s competitions earning direct qualification to the Olympics.
The African Beach Volleyball Championship features 45 teams, including 24 men’s teams and 21 women’s teams, representing 28 African countries, making it one of the continent’s leading beach volleyball competitions.
