The medical staff of Egypt’s national football team has revealed the injury details of Mohamed Hamdy and Mostafa Mohamed following their participation in the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Team doctor Mohamed Abu Al-Ela confirmed that medical examinations showed Mohamed Hamdy suffered bruising accompanied by a blood accumulation in the pelvic bones, caused by intense physical challenges during the match.
He added that Mostafa Mohamed sustained a bruise to the ankle, stressing that the injury is minor and currently under medical supervision.
Abu Al-Ela stated that the medical team is working on fully preparing both players for Egypt’s upcoming match against South Africa, scheduled for Friday at 5:00 PM Cairo time, as part of the second round of group-stage matches.
Egypt kicked off their AFCON 2025 campaign with a 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe, securing three valuable points in Group B. Following the first round, Egypt and South Africa share the top spot with three points each, while Angola and Zimbabwe remain without points after South Africa’s opening win over Angola.
