The coaching staff of Egypt’s U-20 national team, led by Osama Nabih, held motivational sessions with the players ahead of the much-anticipated match against Morocco this Thursday evening in the semifinals of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, currently being held in Egypt and running until May 18. The technical team emphasized the importance of giving their best effort to secure victory and advance to the final, aiming to add a new chapter of achievements to the team’s record.
Both Egypt and Morocco secured their spots in the U-20 World Cup finals after reaching the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations by defeating Ghana and Sierra Leone respectively. This guaranteed their official qualification to the 2025 U-20 World Cup, which will be hosted in Chile, as the tournament’s top four teams qualify for the global event.
Egypt’s youth team booked their semifinal place after a thrilling 5-4 penalty shootout win against Ghana in the quarterfinals held at the New Suez Stadium. Meanwhile, Morocco narrowly defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 after extra time.
The Egypt technical team includes Osama Nabih as head coach, Hamada Anwar as team manager, Alaa Abdo as general coach, Mohamed Omar Al-Nour and Ayman Taher as assistant coaches, Ahmed Essam as performance analyst, Mohamed Akmal as team doctor, Mohamed Mahrous as physiotherapist, and Abbas Hassanein as massage therapist.
The U-20 World Cup will take place in Chile from September 27 to October 19, 2025. This marks Egypt’s ninth qualification for the U-20 World Cup since their first participation in 1981, with the most recent appearance in 2013, underscoring the long-standing prestige and presence of the Pharaohs in international youth competitions.
