Eng. Hany Abou Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, along with board members, the secretary-general, staff, and the national teams’ technical staff, extended their congratulations to Captain Johar Nabil for being appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, wishing him success in his new role and continued efforts to develop the youth and sports sector in Egypt, enhancing its status on both continental and international levels.

This appointment follows the latest cabinet reshuffle, with Johar Nabil succeeding Dr. Ashraf Sobhi in the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Key Information about Johar Nabil:

• Born on January 31, 1973, aged 53, retired handball player; participated in the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics with the Egyptian national team.

• Started his career at Al Ahly in youth teams, briefly played for Zamalek, then returned to Al Ahly, achieving numerous titles.

• Captain of Egypt’s national handball team, won the Junior World Cup, and awarded Best Player in Africa and Best Player in his position worldwide.

• Served as Board Member of the Egyptian Handball Federation (2008-2011), member of the Arab Handball Federation Competitions Committee, head of handball department at Al Ahly (2006-2007), then Board Member of Al Ahly (2017), awarded the First-Class Sports Medal after winning the Junior World Cup in 1993.
