Egyptian League 2026 Title Rules: Head-to-Head, Goal Difference, and Even a Draw!
The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association clarifies the tie-breaking criteria for the Premier League final stage between Zamalek, Al Ahly, and Pyramids
📢 As the final stage of the Egyptian Premier League 2025-2026 begins, the title race heats up between Zamalek, Al Ahly, and Pyramids, with fierce competition for the championship.
⚖️ The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association has announced the official tie-breaking rules in case two or more teams end up with equal points. The system prioritizes head-to-head results first, then overall performance in the final stage, followed by fair play, and a draw as a last resort.
Title Deciding Criteria:
Points in head-to-head matches: The team with the most points against tied teams ranks higher.
Goal difference in head-to-head matches: If points are equal, goal difference in those matches is considered.
Goals scored in head-to-head matches: The team with more goals in direct encounters prevails.
Away goals in head-to-head matches: Used as an additional tiebreaker.
Overall goal difference in the final stage: Considered if still tied after direct match criteria.
Total goals scored in the final stage: Counts all goals scored by the team during the stage.
Fair play: Based on yellow and red cards accumulated during matches.
Draw: The final measure if all previous criteria fail to separate the teams.
⚡ These rules ensure the champion is determined fairly, starting with direct performance, then overall results in the final stage, followed by on-field discipline, and finally, a draw if all else fails.
