Helmy Tolan has called up Mohamed Elneny and Akram Tawfik for Egypt’s second national team camp in November, as part of the final preparations for the Arab Cup in Qatar, amid uncertainty over Ahmed El-Shenawy’s participation.
In a major move to strengthen Egypt’s preparations for the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup 2025 in Qatar, head coach Helmy Tolan has officially called up two key players — Mohamed Elneny of Al Jazira (UAE) and Akram Tawfik of Al Shamal (Qatar) — to join the national camp in November 🇪🇬🔥
The decision comes as part of Tolan’s intensive training program designed to ensure Egypt’s second national team is fully ready ahead of the prestigious tournament kicking off in Doha this December.
The camp will feature a highly anticipated friendly against Algeria, after the Egyptian and Algerian football federations agreed to hold two matches on November 14 and 17 at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo ⚽️🇪🇬🇩🇿
Meanwhile, Tolan is facing a dilemma regarding goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy, as he awaits a final decision from Egypt’s first team coach Hossam Hassan on whether the Pyramids keeper will join the main squad for the UAE friendly tournament.
The coaching staff is also considering adding fresh faces such as Ahmed Abdelkader and Mostafa El-Ash to the November camp, as part of efforts to inject new energy into the squad before the Arab Cup.
The camp is scheduled to begin on November 11, following the Egyptian Super Cup matches in the UAE from November 6 to 9.
