A thrilling clash just concluded between Borussia Dortmund of Germany and Sundowns of South Africa, during the second group stage match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, held at the "Two QL" stadium.
Borussia Dortmund managed to secure a hard-fought 4-3 victory in a match filled with dramatic twists and intense competition between the two teams.
Sundowns took an early lead in the 11th minute through Lucas Ribeiro Costa, who capitalized on a brilliant pass from teammate Tashreeq Matthews and scored, catching the German defense off guard.
However, Dortmund quickly regained balance, equalizing in the 16th minute with Felix Nmecha taking advantage of a defensive error by the South African goalkeeper. Dortmund kept pressing and scored the second goal in the 34th minute by striker Sirot Geraci.
Just before halftime, in the first minute of added time, Jude Bellingham scored Dortmund’s third goal, ending the first half 3-1 in favor of the German side.
In the second half, Dortmund extended their lead with a fourth goal in the 59th minute — an own goal by Sundowns player Khuliso Mudau.
Sundowns, however, fought back fiercely, narrowing the gap with a goal from Ikeram Reiners in the 62nd minute, followed by a late goal from Lebo Motiba in the 90th minute.
The match ended 4-3 in favor of Borussia Dortmund, marking one of the most exciting encounters of the tournament so far.
