Ferran Torres, the forward for Spanish club Barcelona, talked about his team’s preparations for the upcoming El Clasico match against Real Madrid this Sunday in La Liga. He also discussed the team's disappointing exit from the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after losing to Italian side Inter Milan.

In a press statement, Torres expressed his disappointment over the Champions League exit, stating that the team deserved to advance but that circumstances weren’t in their favor. Despite the sadness following the defeat, Torres confirmed that this setback has significantly increased the team's motivation for their La Liga match against Real Madrid. He explained that the match against Real Madrid is a great opportunity to focus on the league and aim to secure the title, especially after the European exit.

Torres added: "The loss was painful, but we’ve moved on as we have in previous situations. Now, we face a new challenge, which is playing against Real Madrid. Although we’re disappointed because we deserved to qualify, this gives everyone an extra push to fight for the league, and I believe we now have more motivation than ever."

The Barcelona forward continued: "I’ve always heard from some people that they think I’m not suitable to play for Barcelona, but I’ve always felt that I can prove myself. It’s easy to talk from the outside, but I live every day at Barcelona, and I only focus on giving my best, whether there’s criticism or praise in the media."

Torres also mentioned that the team hasn't changed much compared to last season, but the overall atmosphere at the club has become more motivating, and this change has played a big role in inspiring the players. He said: "I think one of the main factors that have kept the team in good form this season is the trust the coach has given us, especially from day one. Flick knows what he has in the team and manages the group brilliantly, as he cares for every player and motivates us to perform at our best."

Regarding his relationship with coach Hansi Flick, Torres said: "Flick is quite similar to Guardiola in terms of his ability to manage the team and motivate players, but Flick has a different approach when it comes to dealing with the players. He cares about each individual on the team and ensures to support everyone, even those who don’t regularly play. He makes us feel like we are all part of the team and motivates us to be ready when the opportunity comes."

Torres also highlighted that this season has been a confirmation of his abilities as a central striker, as he has excelled in this role, stressing that he not only looks at goals but also his overall performance in matches. He added: "For me, the No. 9 position is where I’ve shown my best. Not only in scoring but also in participating in building attacks and supporting the team. Sometimes you feel like you haven’t performed your best if you don’t score, but you have to accept that and learn from each match."

Regarding the upcoming match against Real Madrid, Torres considered it a big test for his team, stating that they will need to give their best performance to win and continue competing for the title. Despite the challenges faced in the Champions League, Torres is confident in his team’s ability to overcome obstacles and shine in La Liga.

He added: "A match against Real Madrid is always special. We now have a big chance to focus on the league, which is important to all of us. We must learn from our loss in the Champions League and turn this disappointment into a strong motivation to win the remaining matches in La Liga."

In conclusion, Ferran Torres emphasized the need to focus on proper preparation for the Real Madrid match, pointing out that the team is in high spirits, especially with the support from coach Flick. With this focus, Torres hopes that Barcelona can continue to perform well and maintain their chances of winning the La Liga title by the end of the season.
