⚖️ New Development in the Hakimi Case
Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender, has reached another major stage in his legal case after France’s Court of Cassation rejected his appeal against the decision to send him to trial on a rape charge.
The ruling clears the way for proceedings before the Hauts-de-Seine Criminal Court, while the referral to trial does not itself constitute a conviction, as the allegations remain subject to judicial examination.
📢 Court Rejects Hakimi’s Appeal
France’s Court of Cassation confirmed that Hakimi’s appeal was rejected, leaving the decision to refer him to trial in effect.
The Versailles Court of Appeal had already upheld the referral in June, after which Hakimi’s legal team challenged the decision before the country’s highest judicial court. That appeal has now been dismissed.
🕯️ Case Dates Back to February 2023
The case dates back to February 2023, when a young woman filed a complaint accusing Hakimi of rape following a meeting at the player’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Hakimi has consistently denied the allegations, while the judicial proceedings continued for several years before the case reached the trial stage.
🔍 How the Case Reached Trial
The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office requested in August 2025 that Hakimi stand trial, before an investigating judge ruled in February 2026 that there were sufficient grounds to refer the player to a criminal court.
In June 2026, the Versailles Court of Appeal upheld that decision, after which Hakimi’s defense took the matter to the Court of Cassation. The appeal has now been rejected.
