Farag Amer, Chairman of Smouha SC’s Board of Directors, denied recent reports suggesting that defender Mohamed Rabia is set to join Zamalek as part of the deal sending forward Hossam Ashraf to the Alexandria side.

Amer stressed that these rumors are inaccurate—Rabia remains firmly part of Smouha’s squad, and there is no intention to let him go during the current transfer window, especially given his status as a key member of the club’s defensive lineup.

He also clarified that the loan move for Hossam Ashraf from Zamalek was negotiated as a standalone agreement, involving a straightforward financial fee, with no additional players included in the deal. He emphatically denied any swap arrangement between the two clubs at this time.
Hossam Ashraf is a player for Zamalek SC.

Mohamed Rabia is a player for Smouha SC.

The Smouha president noted that the club is focused on strengthening its roster with several targeted signings—particularly in attacking positions—in preparation for the new Egyptian Premier League season, which is scheduled to kick off on August 8.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Smouha’s first‑team head coach, announced that Hossam Ashraf will join team training starting next Saturday, as part of the squad’s physical and technical preparation program for the upcoming campaign.

The coaching staff hopes to harness Ashraf’s offensive abilities—namely his pace and individual skill—making him an important option in the team’s plans moving forward.

It is worth noting that Smouha aims to deliver a strong season by building a balanced squad that combines youthful talent with experienced professionals, as reflected in the club’s recent transfer activity.
