İlkay Gündoğan, Manchester City star, expressed his great excitement about taking part in the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States from June 14 to July 13. He confirmed that the team enters the tournament with a clear goal: winning the title.

In statements published on FIFA’s official website, Gündoğan said:
“The Club World Cup represents a unique opportunity to face teams from different continents that we rarely play against. That makes it an exciting and special experience for every player.”

He added:
“We’re approaching the tournament with strong ambition to make a powerful impact at the start of the season and to compete fiercely for the title. Tournaments like this don’t come around often, and they represent an important challenge for us as players and as a club.”
He continued:
“When you take part in a tournament of this scale, you must enter with a winning mentality, aiming to go as far as possible and give your very best — and that has been our goal from the beginning.”

Commenting on the end of last season, Gündoğan said:
“We performed at a high level in the last two months, and had we maintained that form earlier, we could have won one or two more titles.”

He concluded by saying:
“Right now, we’re looking forward to a strong start in the Club World Cup. I’m really excited about this tournament because I have full confidence in the team’s abilities, and I believe every competition is a new opportunity to prove ourselves.”

Manchester City will compete in Group G, alongside Al Ain (UAE), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), and Juventus (Italy).
