Haitham Farouk Calls on the Clubs’ Association to Postpone the Ceramica Match Out of Respect for Pyramids FC
Haitham Farouk calls for postponing the Pyramids vs. Ceramica match due to a tight schedule before facing Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.
Haitham Farouk, former Egyptian football star, has called on the Egyptian Clubs Association to reconsider the scheduled date for the match between Pyramids and Ceramica Cleopatra, set for May 28 as part of the Egyptian Premier League.
In a televised statement, Farouk emphasized the difficulty for Pyramids to play this match at such a sensitive time, especially since it comes just a few days before the decisive second leg against South Africa’s Sundowns in the CAF Champions League final.
He said, “It is very difficult for Pyramids to play a crucial league match next Wednesday and then face Sundowns in the African final within such a short period.” He pointed out that the congested match schedule places a heavy burden on the team and affects their efforts in continental competitions.
Farouk stressed the need for the Clubs Association to consider the exceptional circumstances that Pyramids is facing, urging them to approve postponing the team’s final league match to ensure the best possible conditions for preparing for the continental clash.
It is worth noting that the first leg between Pyramids and Sundowns ended in a 1-1 draw, with the second leg scheduled for June 1, increasing the pressure on the team’s tight schedule.
