Hamdy Fathy Nears Pyramids Move… But Al Ahly Holds the Trump Card!

The potential transfer of Hamdy Fathy, the Al-Wakrah SC midfielder, to Pyramids FC is witnessing rapid developments in recent hours, amid growing interest from the Egyptian club to secure the player during the current summer transfer window. The club's spokesperson confirmed that the offer is currently under review by both technical and administrative departments.
Reports suggest that Pyramids has reached a preliminary agreement with the player for a three-year contract, offering an annual salary of $2.1 million (approximately 120 million EGP). Despite the initial mutual understanding, a significant obstacle could delay the deal: a clause requiring Al-Wakrah to notify Al Ahly of any official offers for the player, granting them 72 hours to respond or match the offer.
In line with this clause, Al-Wakrah has officially informed Al Ahly of all the details of Pyramids' offer and is now awaiting a formal response from the Cairo-based club, which had not yet been issued at the time of this report—leaving the situation open and unresolved.
Pyramids is keen to finalize the deal quickly, given their technical need for an experienced international midfielder. Al-Wakrah, on the other hand, is not opposed to letting Fathy go—provided the financial terms surpass those previously offered by Al Ahly.
According to Qatari reports, Pyramids’ offer exceeds Al Ahly’s earlier proposal, increasing the likelihood that the deal will go through in favor of the Sky Blues, especially if Al Ahly delays their response or opts not to submit a counteroffer. For now, Hamdy Fathy’s future remains in limbo as all parties await Al Ahly’s final decision.
