⚽ Hamza Abdelmeguid’s financial dispute intensifies
The financial dispute involving Hamza Abdelmeguid, the former Zamalek defender now playing for Bulgarian club Ludogorets, has entered a new stage after conflicting accounts emerged over the money allegedly still owed to the player.
Recent reports said Abdelmeguid had sent an official warning to Zamalek, demanding payment of outstanding financial dues and giving the club 30 days before considering further action.
However, sports critic Khaled Ali presented a different account, stating that Abdelmeguid had already received his full financial dues from Zamalek on September 23, after certain deductions were applied.
📢 Khaled Ali: Abdelmeguid received his full dues
According to the version shared by Khaled Ali based on media reports, Abdelmeguid received all of his outstanding financial payments from Zamalek on September 23.
The same account claimed that deductions were applied, including a 10 percent reduction from the value of his contract because the player had not won two or more trophies with the club.
Based on that version, the financial relationship between Abdelmeguid and Zamalek had already been settled, meaning the player would have no remaining dues with the club.
The account comes after Zamalek officials confirmed in September that player payments had been transferred as part of the club’s efforts to improve its financial position.
🔥 Another account: official warning and 30-day deadline
On the other side of the dispute, broadcaster Hany Hethout reported that Abdelmeguid had taken an official step against Zamalek after considering the payments he received insufficient to cover his full contractual rights.
According to Hethout’s account, the player initially attempted to resolve the matter through his agent Samer Salama, who contacted Zamalek officials over the outstanding payments.
Reports said Zamalek transferred part of the money, with another payment following later, but disagreement remained over the amount Abdelmeguid believed was still owed.
Recent reports confirm that the official warning gives Zamalek 30 days to resolve the matter, after which the player could proceed with a formal complaint.
💰 £? No — EGP 800,000 reportedly at the center of the dispute
Other Egyptian reports have put the amount being claimed at approximately EGP 800,000.
The player’s family told local media that Abdelmeguid had attempted to contact Zamalek officials over the outstanding money, particularly after the club received funds from the transfer of Brazilian winger Juan Bezerra to Shabab Al Ahli in the UAE.
The continued lack of a settlement reportedly prompted Abdelmeguid to move from informal discussions to an official warning.
⭐ Why are the two versions different?
The biggest development in the story is the clear contradiction between the two accounts.
Khaled Ali’s version says the player received all of his dues and the financial file was closed, while reports published on October 5 and 6 state that Abdelmeguid still considers money outstanding and has formally warned the club.
For that reason, it is difficult at this stage to state definitively that either version represents the final legal position without an official statement or documentation from Zamalek or the player’s representatives.
📋 What happens next?
Abdelmeguid left Zamalek during the summer transfer window to join Ludogorets, beginning a new chapter in his European career while the financial issue with his former club remained under discussion.
If the reported outstanding payment does exist, Zamalek would have 30 days under the warning before the dispute could move toward a formal complaint.
If the account that all dues were already paid is correct, additional documentation or clarification would be needed to explain why an official warning was subsequently issued.
🏆 Official documents could settle the dispute
The Abdelmeguid case is now one of the financial issues surrounding Zamalek that requires clear documentation, particularly because reports are presenting two completely different versions of the player’s financial status.
The decisive evidence will ultimately come from the official financial records or statements issued by Zamalek and the player’s representatives, rather than from conflicting media reports.
