Hossam Abdel Meguid Sends Formal Notice to Zamalek
A new dispute has emerged between Hossam Abdel Meguid and his former club Zamalek after the player sent an official notice demanding payment of money he says remains owed to him following his departure for Bulgarian side Ludogorets.
Sources close to the player say the disputed amount is worth around EGP 800,000, while the formal notice reportedly gives Zamalek 30 days to resolve the matter before further legal action is considered.
The development has sparked reactions among Zamalek supporters, particularly because Abdel Meguid came through the club’s youth system and spent several years with the first team before moving to Europe.
🔥 Fans Divided Over Abdel Meguid’s Decision
Zamalek supporters have reacted differently to the player’s decision.
Some fans have questioned the decision to formally notify the club, particularly because of Abdel Meguid’s long-standing connection with Zamalek.
Others, however, believe that the player has every right to seek any money he believes remains due to him, and that using formal procedures does not necessarily indicate a personal dispute with the club.
Sources close to Abdel Meguid say the player previously attempted to communicate with Zamalek officials regarding the outstanding amount before deciding to take formal action.
📢 Zamalek Offer a Different Explanation
Zamalek have since provided a different account of the dispute.
A club source stated that the EGP 800,000 figure should not be described as overdue financial dues, explaining that it relates to bonuses and that the club’s regulations allow a 10% deduction from bonuses if the team wins only one title during the season.
The source also referred to a separate bonus connected to Abdel Meguid’s appearances for the Egypt national team, saying payment of that amount is linked to the player reaching a participation percentage of more than 50%. According to the club, the relevant notification from the Egyptian Football Association had not yet been received.
The two sides therefore currently have different interpretations of the disputed amount and its nature.
⭐ 30-Day Deadline Before Potential Escalation
According to sources close to Abdel Meguid, the formal notice gives Zamalek 30 days to settle the dispute.
Should no agreement be reached during that period, the player could file a complaint with the Egyptian Football Association, with the possibility of escalating the case to FIFA, according to multiple reports.
The coming weeks are therefore expected to determine whether the issue can be resolved amicably or develops into a formal sporting dispute.
🏆 Abdel Meguid Begins New Chapter in Bulgaria
Abdel Meguid left Zamalek during the recent transfer window and joined Ludogorets, beginning a new chapter in European football. He has also remained involved with the Egypt national team during the current international period.
For now, his financial dispute with Zamalek remains unresolved, with the player and club offering different accounts of the money involved.
Was Hossam Abdel Meguid right to formally demand the money, or should the dispute have been settled privately with Zamalek? 🏹🔥
