The Iraqi Football Association has decided to organize a friendly tournament in Basra next November as part of the national team's preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Ahmed Al-Moussawi, a member of the Iraqi Football Association, said the federation has opened talks with several Asian national teams regarding participation in the planned friendly tournament in Basra.
The teams involved in discussions include Iran, Uzbekistan and Jordan, along with a fourth Asian national team whose participation has yet to be finalized.
Iraq and Iran Among Expected Participants
Al-Moussawi explained that Iraq and Iran are currently the leading candidates to participate officially in the tournament, while negotiations with Uzbekistan and another Asian team remain ongoing.
Jordan is also among the options being considered as the organizers work to finalize the tournament's lineup.
