Is Christo leaving Al Ahly? A source reveals the untold truth.
A source at Al Ahly denies granting Mohamed El-Daoui Christo a release and reveals an offer from Étoile Sportive du Sahel.
A source within Al Ahly Club firmly denied the reports circulating in some Tunisian press outlets about granting the player Mohamed El-Daoui Christo his release during this period, which would allow him to become a free agent and transfer to another club. The source clarified that these reports are baseless and that the player is still officially under contract with Al Ahly.
The source also pointed out that Mohamed El-Daoui Christo has received an offer from the Tunisian club Étoile Sportive du Sahel but has not yet made a final decision regarding the transfer. He has not been granted any official release that would allow him to leave the club so far.
It is worth mentioning that Christo recently returned to Al Ahly’s squad after completing his loan period with Tunisian club CS Sfaxien, which lasted throughout the past season. He was expected to be included in the team’s plans.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly is working to market the Moroccan player Reda Slim and the Tunisian Mohamed El-Daoui Christo during the upcoming summer transfer window, due to the club’s roster being full of the maximum allowed foreign players for the new season.
This step came after the Egyptian Football Association rejected Al Ahly’s request to increase the number of foreign players in the team’s roster, confirming that each club participating in the Premier League is allowed to have only five foreign players, along with three under-age players. This limits the club’s options in signing or retaining more foreign players.
Currently, Al Ahly’s roster includes five foreign players: Malian Aliou Dieng, who recently returned from a loan period, Tunisian Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Moroccan players Ashraf Bencharki and Ashraf Dari, and Slovenian Nejc Gradisar. This complicates the possibility of adding new players or retaining all foreign names in the squad.
