Journalist Gamal El-Ghandour revealed the details behind international referee Yara Atef being excluded from officiating any Week 26 women’s league matches ⚽🔥, citing a dispute with referee committee head Óscar Ruiz at the Goal Project in 6th of October 🏟️.
El-Ghandour explained on the program Stade El-Mehwar 📺 that Atef’s exclusion is due to past disagreements with Ruiz, and she still doesn’t know her status for upcoming league matches.
The incident was not about her objection to receiving the international badge on the field rather than in the office. It started when Atef asked Ruiz why she was excluded from camps and given fewer matches during his year and a half in the role. Ruiz replied, "The decision is mine and I’m free to do it" 🔥💬.
When Atef asked again to clarify if she had erred and could correct it, Ruiz raised his voice in a way she found humiliating in front of everyone. Atef protested and expressed her objection to his tone.
