Kareem Nedved, former Al Ahly star and current Ceramica Cleopatra player, spoke frankly about his relationship with his former teammate Ramadan Sobhi and his position on possibly joining Zamalek in the future, during his appearance on the “Malab On” TV show 🎙️⚽.
Nedved said: “When Ramadan Sobhi left Al Ahly for Pyramids in 2020, I didn’t attack him as people claimed. I simply expressed how I felt at that moment, and everyone is responsible for their own decisions.”
He added: “My relationship with Ramadan was purely professional and limited to football — we weren’t close friends. We didn’t communicate while he was playing abroad, and when he returned to Al Ahly, our contact was limited to training sessions.”
Speaking about his current experience, Nedved expressed his happiness at Ceramica Cleopatra, saying: “The club offers a stable environment that makes players want to stay. Coach Ali Maher has had a huge influence on me he fights for his players and gives them confidence.”
Nedved also denied receiving any offers from Zamalek after leaving Al Ahly, emphasizing that his focus was entirely on regaining his form on the pitch.
When comparing Al Ahly’s former coaches Marcel Koller and Pitso Mosimane, Nedved said: “Koller was fair and didn’t exclude any player for personal reasons, while Mosimane used to focus only 20 minutes on tactical training and left the rest to his assistants.”
He also commented on his former teammate Nasser Maher’s move to Zamalek: “I wasn’t surprised. Nasser wasn’t deeply connected to Al Ahly, so I didn’t find his decision shocking.”
Dicussing players unlikely to move to Zamalek, Nedved said: “It’s hard to imagine players like Mohamed Hany or Mohamed El Shenawy joining Zamalek, but nowadays with all the offers and temptations, anything can happen.”
Nedved concluded by clarifying his own stance: “I respect Zamalek and its fans a lot, but it’s a rival club. I grew up at Al Ahly, and it would be extremely difficult for me to represent their traditional rival, no matter the circumstances ❤️🦅.”
