⚪ Zamalek Reportedly Consider Mohamed Atef’s Return
Media personality Karim Ramzy has revealed new details surrounding Mohamed Atef, the Zamalek player currently on loan at Tala’a El-Gaish.
Reports had suggested that Zamalek could attempt to end the player’s loan during the January transfer window, but according to Ramzy, the club’s registration situation could create a major obstacle.
📋 Registration Ban Creates Restrictions
Speaking on Mega FM, Karim Ramzy said reports had emerged suggesting that Zamalek wanted to terminate Mohamed Atef’s loan at Tala’a El-Gaish to compensate for the departure of Bezerra.
He then explained that FIFA’s regulations concerning registration bans could prevent Zamalek from registering the player again during the ban.
FIFA’s legal framework states that a registration ban generally prevents a club from registering new players during the period of the sanction, while specific exceptions include certain natural returns from loan. Early termination of a loan is not automatically covered by the natural-expiry exception and may require separate regulatory approval.
🔄 Atef’s Loan Is Reportedly for Two Seasons
Ramzy stated that Mohamed Atef’s loan to Tala’a El-Gaish runs for two seasons, meaning an early return would have to be accompanied by the ability to register the player with Zamalek.
He therefore argued that the club would not be able to benefit from an early termination if it could not complete the player’s registration under the existing restrictions.
FIFA’s transfer guidance explains that a natural return from loan is treated differently from certain early termination scenarios, with the applicable registration rules and FIFA confirmation playing a role when a club is under a registration ban.
🚫 Ending the Loan Would Not Automatically Mean He Can Play
Ramzy added that even if Zamalek were able to terminate the loan agreement, the player would still need to be officially registered with the club before he could participate.
He said that if Zamalek ended the loan during the January transfer window but could not register the player, Mohamed Atef would not be able to play for the club.

The situation therefore leaves Mohamed Atef’s future tied to the registration framework, with the main possibilities being that he remains at Tala’a El-Gaish until the loan expires or that an early return is pursued alongside the necessary registration procedures.
