Khaled El-Ghandour, former Zamalek star, called for support to the family of his late teammate Mohamed Sabry, stressing that his salary was modest and that his family should receive financial assistance.

El-Ghandour wrote on Facebook: "A message to Zamalek and businessmen: Sabry was a respectable person and the main source of income for his children, and his salary was very low. There must be coordination with his children or those responsible for their education, with a monthly salary and generous donations to support their livelihood."

He added: "Sabry had five children, and there must be a stand from all former players with his family. This is a duty because he is a historic star for Zamalek and its fans. Actions are needed, not just words."

The Egyptian football community was shocked by the passing of Mohamed Sabry last Friday following a severe car accident in Cairo’s Fifth Settlement.

Sabry was one of Zamalek’s standout stars in the 1990s and represented Egypt in three international matches. He started his career in his hometown of Belbis, Sharqia, before joining Zamalek’s youth academy. He was promoted to the first team in 1993 by the late coach Mahmoud El-Gohary and contributed to multiple titles, later joining Al Ittihad Alexandria briefly before retiring.
