The Croatian Krunoslav Jurčić, head coach of Pyramids FC, expressed great pride in being awarded Egypt’s Best Coach of 2025 during the recent "Dear Guest" awards ceremony. He considered this recognition as a reflection of the hard work and effort exerted throughout the season, both by himself as a coach and by his supporting staff and players.

Jurčić told "On Time Sports 1" channel on the sidelines of the ceremony:

"Egypt is a country with a rich football history and hosts a distinguished group of highly skilled coaches. Therefore, receiving the title of Best Coach here is a matter of great pride and honor. However, in the end, any success a coach achieves cannot be realized without a strong system and dedicated, committed players."

African Champions League Final: Mixed Emotions in Tough Moments
Jurčić spoke about his toughest moments with Pyramids, particularly during the second leg of the African Champions League final, confirming that the final minutes of that match were filled with tension and emotion.

He said:

"I have never felt time stretch as much as I did during the last ten minutes of the final. Every minute felt like an hour, and I was constantly pacing on the sideline because the tension was at its peak. Matches like these form a professional memory for any coach and remain etched in their mind no matter how much time passes."

Preparations for the New Season: The Real Challenge Begins Now
Regarding preparations for the upcoming season, the Croatian coach clarified that Pyramids faces a bigger challenge than just maintaining success, as the team is now required to perform at a higher level and prove its worthiness of the titles it has won.

He explained:

"After achieving the dream of winning, we must show that we deserve it and that we can maintain our level. Therefore, I asked the management to support the team with several new signings, between 4 to 5 players, provided they meet the highest technical and physical standards. We are not looking for quantity but quality and the ability to make a real difference."

Jurčić emphasized the importance of fostering competitive spirit within the team by renewing vital positions and bringing in fresh blood, especially considering the multiple tournaments Pyramids will participate in during the new season.

A Tight Schedule and Exceptions for Pyramids Due to International Commitments
Meanwhile, preparations continue for the launch of the Egyptian Premier League on August 8, amid a slight delay in announcing the final match schedule due to arrangements concerning teams participating in international competitions.

The Egyptian Football Association granted Pyramids a rest during the sixth round of the league because of its commitment to face Auckland City in the opening match of the Intercontinental Cup — a newly established tournament that attracts clubs from different continents, giving it major marketing and sporting significance.

Additionally, the eighth round was rescheduled to take place between September 28 and October 1, anticipating a possible Pyramids match against Saudi club Al-Ahli Jeddah, if Pyramids advances beyond the first stage of the international tournament, according to Taha Ezzat, head of the Competitions Committee at the Egyptian Football Association.

Pyramids on the Brink of a New Era
Jurčić’s statements reveal the shape of the upcoming phase Pyramids is entering, as the club aims to cement its status as a continental football power, not just a local competitor. It appears that the technical management fully understands that maintaining the top spot is harder than reaching it, and that investing in player quality and solid planning is the key to achieving sustainability.
