Luis de la Fuente, head coach of Spain, voiced his frustration over how Barcelona informed the Spanish Football Federation about Lamine Yamal’s injury, which prevented his participation in the current national team camp ⚽🇪🇸.
De la Fuente told Radio Nacional de España: "I have never faced a situation like this before. I don’t think it’s normal. There’s no news, no details, and then you’re told… you’re surprised. There are procedures happening outside the federation’s scope, and this is what happens, and we have to accept it."
Details on Yamal’s Exclusion:
The Spanish Football Federation released an official statement explaining that Yamal was excluded after the medical team was surprised to learn he underwent a radiofrequency surgical procedure on the morning of the camp start, without prior notification to the national team medical staff.
The statement added: "We only learned of the procedure through a report received at 22:40 yesterday, recommending rest for 7 to 10 days."
"Given this situation, and prioritizing the player’s health and safety, the Royal Spanish Football Federation decided to exempt him from the current call-up. We are confident he will recover well and wish him a speedy and full recovery," the statement concluded.
This issue arises at a critical time as Spain continues its preparations for upcoming matches, raising concerns over the lack of communication between the club and the federation regarding the player’s condition.
