Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, welcomed Egypt’s squash champion and world No. 2 Ali Farag following his retirement from the sport and his entry into coaching.
The minister praised Ali Farag, emphasizing that he is a proud role model for Egyptian youth—not only for his athletic achievements and world ranking but also for his academic and cultural level as a Harvard graduate.
During a phone call with Eng. Amina Al-Tarablusi, President of the Egyptian Squash Federation, and in the presence of Ali Farag, it was agreed that Ali Farag and coach Karim Darwish would join the coaching committee for the Egyptian national squash teams.
The minister also decided to benefit from Ali Farag’s expertise by appointing him as a member of the Sports Scientific Council, as part of the national project to develop squash in cooperation between the ministry and the federation.
Ali Farag expressed his happiness with the honor and affirmed his determination to give his best to support the sport under the leadership of Eng. Amina Al-Tarablusi, whom he highly respects.
